De Kilsdonkse Molen

The Kilsdonkse Molen is a unique combination in the Netherlands of a stone water-fed corn mill and a water-driven oil mill on either side of the banks of the River Aa.
The history of this mill complex dates back to the Middle Ages. Part of the oil mill was used as a residence from 1882 onwards. When the wind power system fell into disuse – as there were already millstones powered by motors – the mill fell into further disrepair. In early 2003, the board of De Hollandsche Molen allocated a large sum of money from the 2002 Sponsor Bingo Lottery budget to enable the start of the restoration of this unique mill complex in the Netherlands. The rebuilt complex was officially opened on May 8, 2009.
The visitor center with its terrace is open several days a week. Visitors can visit the mill, book a guided tour, or book a unique boat trip on a whisper boat along the Aa River to Heeswijk Castle.
